Unlocking the Power of Goal Setting with NLP
Unlocking the Power of Goal Setting with NLP: Setting goals is a common practice that has become somewhat mundane for many individuals. We often create objectives using various techniques such as visualization, repetition, or the law of attraction. However, there remains a persistent question: why do some goals succeed while others fall short? What sets apart the goals that surpass our expectations?
During one of our NLP Master Practitioner trainings at The MindTech Institute, a student posed an intriguing question: “How do you define goals in a multidimensional reality?” Initially, it may seem like an absurd inquiry, considering that we typically perceive reality in three dimensions. However, the realms of physics have long established that the world we experience with our senses is not the sole reality. This led me to ponder on the matter.
In our Hypnosis Certification trainings at The MindTech Institute, we teach a technique called Time “Regression.” This process has indirectly hinted at the existence of multidimensional realities, but I had never considered it in such a profound manner before.
The fault doesn’t lie with regression or the goal-setting process itself if we fail to comprehend the workings of these “old and new” discoveries, which have been explored in philosophical considerations, Hermeticism, Shamanism, modern physics, and hypnosis. Essentially, they all point to one truth: reality is multidimensional. In simpler terms, what we perceive is just a fraction of what truly exists.
This is precisely why the NLP goal-setting process proves to be effective.
Previously, these “other realities” were referred to as the “astral plane” or the “invisible world.” However, physicists have introduced terms like “other dimensions,” “parallel universes,” and “multiverses” to describe these additional dimensions of reality. It turns out there are more than just three dimensions (including time as the fourth dimension). Experts speculate that there could be over ten or even a hundred of these parallel universes and dimensions, which we have yet to access directly.
Notice that I mentioned “direct access.” This suggests that by strategically incorporating goals into our future timeline, we can influence both the seen and unseen aspects of reality—a process known as Goal Setting, a crucial component of The MindTech Institute’s NLP Training and Life Management courses. This is how it truly works.
When we claim that the world consists of four dimensions (including time as the fourth dimension), we are essentially referring to our limited human perspective. Furthermore, we are discussing our endeavors as humans to navigate this world.
And it does work, but not consistently.

The fact that it works on some occasions and not on others doesn’t bring the story to an end. Technological advancements have allowed us to achieve remarkable feats, such as landing on the moon and manipulating the DNA of living organisms. We have moved far beyond the horse cart and manual plow. This progress is undeniable, and for many, it constitutes their entire reality.
However, how do we evaluate our long-term experience with all this technology? We have become accustomed to it and perceive it as the norm. But how many dimensions does this experience encompass? Three—just like before.
In reality, most individuals unknowingly exist in multiple worlds simultaneously. Consider the internet, for example. It doesn’t physically reside in your closet or on “a cloud.” It lacks materiality, yet we interact with it as if it were real. What about avatars? Are they genuine representations of ourselves?
Not at all.
According to the English Dictionary, “genuine” means “being or existing in truth or actuality; having proven existence; not illusory.” Therefore, the internet and avatars are not genuine. Yet, online enthusiasts often possess a stronger connection to their virtual experiences than to real-life interactions.
Hence, whether life is experienced in three, four, or more dimensions depends on the individual’s perception. Personal, unique, and subjective experiences abound. When employing the techniques of The MindTech Institute’s NLP, you are truly influencing “alternate realities.”
Now, you may ask, “What role does imagination play in all of this? Shouldn’t we be rational and logical?”
But where is the contradiction? Can we not possess a vivid imagination, utilize it productively, and still be rational and sensible?
Too often, goal setting becomes a cropped and flattened representation of our inner reality—a mere three-dimensional snapshot of a much more intricate, vivid, and complete existence. Imagine a breathtaking mountain lake nestled amidst snow-capped peaks. When reduced to a two-dimensional depiction on paper, its grandeur is lost.

By limiting ourselves to this flattened perception, we undermine our true potential, believing that our goals represent the culmination of our deepest desires. Material goals are not inherently wrong; they can indeed be well-deserved. However, they are not the whole picture.
Goals are not just endpoints; they are also signs along the journey. They provide us with clues and guideposts, revealing our current position and intended destination. If we pay closer attention, they can communicate much more. How often do we question ourselves, “What is driving me to pursue X right now?” or “How does this goal fit into the bigger picture?”
Those who reflect on these questions realize that their goals are part of something much greater—something more profound, powerful, and perceptive. There is more to uncover beyond these goals. It could be a personal quest for self-improvement and growth or an exploration of the depths of the mind.
A goal merely instructs us where to go, what to do, and what to reach for. It represents a limited and transient version of a goal that, in reality, holds boundless complexity but remains largely unconscious for most people.
If we seek to infuse more energy, passion, and excitement into our lives, we must recognize that pursuing a goal unveils a multitude of passions and purposes hidden within our unconscious selves. Once we unearth these revelations, we can harness them to achieve much greater things. Paradoxically, as our goals expand, everything else becomes more attainable.
Of course, we have the option of confining ourselves within the three dimensions of visible reality, as most people tend to do. They find contentment within those boundaries, genuinely believing it represents the entirety of existence. They build mental barriers and settle for happiness within a confined space. Their projections become flat, just like the two-dimensional drawing of a magnificent mountain lake on paper. No matter how beautiful the artwork may be, it is not the real thing.
The more we observe, release our fears and worries, and allow our creativity to flourish, the more we discover. This leads to the accomplishment of more goals, fostering increased self-confidence and positive emotions. Eventually, the paper version of the mountain we once admired no longer satisfies us. We yearn for the real experience.
When your consciousness is limited to a drawing on paper, you feel restless and unfulfilled. Your goals are like arrows pointing towards various actions on the branches of a complex and dynamic tree of life.

Pursuing a specific goal necessitates learning new skills, adopting new techniques, and forming new habits. Sometimes, it even requires a complete transformation of our being. And that is the crux of it all.
For those with the eyes to see and the ears to hear, the message becomes clear—there are no limitations to the dimensions of your Self. Embark on the journey towards self-discovery. Many of our students have taken this path, and their lives have been forever changed.
You can choose to believe that you are nothing more than a scribble on a piece of paper.
But in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
